about meJavay is an East Coast native turned West Coast transplant. She was born in the DMV (DC, MD, VA) and is the middle child and eldest daughter with two brothers. She graduated from North Point High School in Waldorf, MD. For undergrad, Javay attended James Madison University, earning her B.A. in Media Arts & Design with a concentration in Digital Video & Cinema with a minor in creative writing, as well as her B.S. in Hospitality Management with a minor in General Business.
After graduating from JMU, Javay moved cross-country to Los Angeles, CA, where she worked in the entertainment industry. During this time she also began working at a sex shop, A Touch of Romance (now Lovers), which started her on her journey of becoming a sex educator. In 2019, Javay returned back to school to earn her Master's of Education (MEd) in Human Sexuality. She graduated from Widener University in 2021. During this time, she moved to Bend, OR.
After finishing her Master's, Javay continued her graduate education by starting her PhD in Human Sexuality at the California Institute of Integral Studies and pursuing a PhD in Media Psychology at Fielding Graduate University. She realized that the format of the Media Psychology program was not for her, so she left that program after the first semester. She continued with her human sexuality program and then started her Communication & Media Studies PhD at the University of Oregon in 2023.
Currently, Javay is a doctoral candidate in the UO Communication & Media Studies PhD program and has withdrawn from her Human Sexuality PhD program at CIIS. While Javay was optimistic about earning both doctoral degrees, the stars were not aligned for that to become reality, but Javay is excited about what the future has in store.
